Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2006, Pauillac

Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2006, Pauillac

Best 2013 - 2022

The wine produced at "GPL" is classified as one of eighteen Cinquièmes Crus (Fifth Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste certainly out performs its position as a 5th growth. Like Pontet Canet and Lynch Bages it is capable of genuine greatness.

Trinity Hill High Country Pinot Noir 2008, Hawkes Bay

Drink 2010 - 2015

This Hawkes Bay Syrah has characters of black fruits, such as plums, blackcurrant and cherry are evident, along with raspberry aromas. However, this wine is more about texture and structure than primary fruit, with complexity derived from the different clones and winemaking techniques used.

Gaja Sori Tildin 2003, Piemonte

Gaja Sori Tildin 2003, Piemonte

Optimum 2009 - 2018 +

The word “sorì” is the Piedmontese term for a hilltop with a southern exposure; Tildìn was the nickname of the Angelo Gaja grandmother, Clotilde Rey. All five of Gaja’s single-vineyard wines exhibit great elegance and complexity, qualities that reach a pinnacle of balance in Sorì Tildìn. It is a wine of great finesse, the quintessential expression of the land and the Nebbiolo grape. Complex aromas; minerals, sour cherries, cedar, spices; full and rich in the mouth, very dense texture, a multidimensional wine, marked by an enormous quantity of fine, ripe tannins. This wine has extraordinary aging potential .

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia 'Ornellaia' Double Magnum 2007. Tuscany

Drink 2015 - 2030

Boxed Double Magnum.  The 2007 Ornellaia is remarkably open and accessible, very much in keeping with the personality of the vintage.  Its glossy style and up-front fruit means that that the vintage will show well earlier than many Ornellaia vintages.  However, that isn't a diplomatic way of saying that the wine is simple or light.  This is a deeply concentrated and rich Ornellaia, just one with elevated fruit and soft, ripe tannins.

Gaja Barbaresco 2007, Piedmonte

Gaja Barbaresco 2007, Piedmonte

2017 - 2032

Produced from estate-owned vineyards, Gaja’s Barbaresco has deep, complex fruit flavours supported by refreshing acidity and firm tannins and although it has the capacity to age for 20 or more years, the wine can be appreciated within a few years of bottling. The 2007 is an outstanding expression of the vintage.  The style of the wine is more opulent and forward than the 2006 vintage but it is also very elegant, complex and persistent and one of the finest examples made by Gaja. Gaja Costa Russi 2007, Piedmonte

Gaja Costa Russi 2007, Piedmonte

Optimum 2013 - 2030

The 2007 Costa Russi is an outstanding effort from Gaja. The bouquet is rich and multi-layered with notes of black fruits, dark cherries, spices and herbs. The palate is extremely ripe and deep but very elegant with fine, harmonious tannins. Deep red berry fruit is intermingled with notes of sage, dried herbs and flowers and the finish is very long and persistent. It will evolve into a multi-layered wine with immense finesse, but will be delicious in a few years time due to the powerful fruit.

Gaja Sori San Lorenzo 2007, Piedmonte

Gaja Sori San Lorenzo 2007, Piedmonte

2018 - 2040 +

“The 2007 Langhe Sori San Lorenzo is perhaps the most massive, virile wine in this lineup, and accordingly it will require the most time. Tannic and austere at the outset, the wine gradually opens to reveal staggering richness and depth in its dark fruit. The wine turns more elegant in the glass, revealing a myriad of black fruit, tar, licorice, spices and scorched earth in a dazzling display of class and elegance. This is one for the ages. Anticipated maturity: 2027-2047.” 98 points Antonio Gallloni, Wine Advocate, February 2010
