Jim Clendenen has been making wonderful wines since establishing his winery in 1982. It was then that he and Bob Lindquist of Qupé fame built the airy, modern winery they share in the middle of the Bien Nacido vineyard. Within a few years they had succeeded in putting Santa Barbara on the winemaking map. Whichever cuvée you choose, you will find that Jim’s wines all combine Burgundian sensibility with Californian style.
Having always bought fruit from carefully selected sites and vineyards, Jim was finally able to buy land and plant his very own vines in 1997. The fruits of this development can now be appreciated in the intensely mineral and focused Santa Barbara Chardonnay as well as the sublimely scented and juicy Santa Maria Pinot Noir.
