Divergent was inspired by the late Serge Hochar of Chateau Musar, who she met at the Swartland Revolution

The 2015 Divergent, is the first red release from Jocelyn Hogan Wilson, initially she intended to make a straight Cabernet, but Chris Alheit convinced her to blend it with some Cinsault like many of the older Zonnebloem Cabernets from the 1950s and 60s.
It was Jocelyn’s reluctance to manipulating the acidity in the cellar that lead her in search of a blending component that would naturally balance the pH in the final blend. She found it in a parcel of Carignan in Wellington, picked early (January) to preserve the acidity and the result is here for you to try. Incredibly pure, with the influence of the fragrant Cinsault shining through, just six barrels were produced of which on 390 bottles made it to the UK.

Hogan Divergent 2015 Western Cape, South Africa
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan, this is a Stellenbosch/Wellington blend. It’s fresh with nice vivid sweet cherry and plum fruit. Nicely textured this is fine and expressive with lovely purity. Really fine. 94/100 - Jamie Goode
