Roberto Anselmi has legendary status in Italian winemaking. This charismatic, motorbike-riding rebel’s uncompromising quality-over-quantity approach has helped redefine the image of northern Italian wines. He has pioneered white wine production in the Veneto and of course is famed for being so intolerant of the Soave authorities petty rulings that he stripped his wines of the name Soave in protest. As a result, sales of his wines increased and the region lost association with one of its greatest estates.

In terms of food and wine matching the options are practically endless. Obvious ideas would be to serve with seafood and lighter white meat dishes. More sophisticated ideas such as steamed fish fillets with scallion-ginger oil, boiled lobsters with tarragon butter or braised pork chops with dill sauce only scratch the surface.
